How to Bring Stability to Your Income (in an Aligned Way)

If you’d like to get off the hamster wheel and stabilize your income (in an aligned way), then what can you do?

When we are looking to stabilize something, such as a physical building, it’s all about creating a solid foundation.

The same is true for bringing stability to your income.

The new (and sometimes uncomfortable) actions you take that increase your income actually sit ON TOP OF this new foundation that stabilizes and maintains your forward momentum.

There are four cornerstones to this foundation.

1. Create routines and strive toward consistency.

When we have routines, we are more likely to be consistent. Consistent action is stabilizing. If your results are inconsistent (or your income is up and down), then it probably stems from inconsistent action.

What routines can you create to support your goals? Perhaps a morning routine to declutter your mind through meditation or yoga… Perhaps it’s an exercise routine, a getting ready routine, a nighttime routine…

And of course, there are business routines.

My favorite business routine is my content creation routine. A content creation routine is what helps stabilize the action of spreading your message online through your blog, email and social media. My content creation routine consists of writing a blog on Tuesdays, recording a podcast on Wednesdays and scheduling social media posts for the entire following week on Thursdays. And then I have daily routines that include adding Stories and commenting on posts. The routine stabilizes and lightens the workload because I don’t have to think about what to write on a daily basis.

Ask yourself, “What can I automate in my decision making, through a routine, that takes a load off my brain?”

2. Listen to your intuition.

For years, I denied that little voice inside of me, my intuition. I led my business by instinct, intellect and experience— whether my own or others’ experience. It didn’t lead me to fulfillment and joy.  Not only that, I gave away my power to others when I didn’t have the answers in my “brain.” I bought more courses, invested in more coaching and joined more mastermind groups (perhaps you’ve done this, too).

Just like reviewing data and analytics in our business, it’s just as important to review the gut feelings and the little signs and synchronicities along the way. We must be willing to leave behind outdated traditions and concepts and use our intuition to innovate and create a brighter future.

Imagine the possibilities when you can get a creative solution from your intuition for any question, challenge or problem!

Ask yourself (and your intuition), “What steps can I take to be more in tune with my intuition?” And for more guidance on how to tune into your intuition, check out my book, The Intuition-Led Business.

3. Get cozy.

When we’re gearing up to go outside our comfort zone to increase our income, we can support the inner discomfort we can experience by intentionally creating comfort in our outer surroundings. This can include decluttering and organizing your stuff (if you haven’t used it in the last 12 months, donate it, sell it or trash it!)  You can also paint a wall or a room, hang wallpaper, light a candle, diffuse essential oils, even buy a new pillow.

Ask yourself (and your intuition), “What can I add and/or remove from my physical surroundings to create more comfort?”

4. Visualize success.

When you are afraid to take action because it takes you out of your comfort zone, visualizing success can help remove those fears on a subconscious level and propel you forward.

Even top Olympic athletes visualize their performances. A study published in Neuropsychologia found that when you imagine moving parts of your bodies, it trains the muscles almost as much as the actual movement. Another study showed that “…visualizations under hypnosis enabled nationally ranked Stanford male gymnasts to execute for the first time several complex tricks that they had been working on for over a year. The gymnasts were able to eliminate timing errors in the tricks, to increase flexibility, and, possibly, to concentrate strength…”

Just like athletes, this works for business too, whether it’s a keynote presentation or visualizing additional income in your bank account.
