Christie Turley sparks growth in visionary leaders and executives, with her training and consulting in Organizational Empathy and Mindful Leadership. 

Her superpower is to save organizations time, money and energy by uncovering untapped talent and limiting biases, so they can deliver meaningful impact, higher profits and happier employees and customers.

Earlier in her career, she grew two international start-ups by more than $30 Million total, earning a placement in the INC 500. She also worked with several Fortune 500 brands and ran her own branding & marketing agency for 17 years before exiting to start her training and consulting company, Lighten Up Leadership.

Nearly two decades later, Christie Turley is a best-selling author, a keynote speaker, an expert in Human Emotional and Behavioral Psychotherapy and host of The Higher Genius Podcast. She lives in the US Rocky Mountains with her husband and their two daughters.

I’ve worked with all sizes of businesses, from start-up to a $7 billion dollar company, from international to local, spanning all types of industries. I’ve started, owned, grew and exited 9 of my own businesses covering services, physical products, digital products, brick-and-mortar retail, a franchise, and e-learning.

1999: Starting Up
While still in college, I became Head of Marketing at a global education start-up and helped them grow by 3,000% – from six-figures to $15MM in 5 years, which ranked us #67 in the INC 500. I also happened to be the youngest person in the company and managed many employees who were older. I learned a lot about overcoming biases and prejudices and the art of Mindful Leadership.

2004: Head of Marketing at a 9-Figure Enterprise
As Head of Marketing, I worked with a lot of Fortune 500 brands. I spearheaded a pilot project for a brand that generated $15MM in 9 months, surpassing all goals. However, I realized my work/life balance was off, the culture was toxic—and I needed a change.

2001-2007: The Leading Lady

I was invited to lead an ASU Board of Directors as a Communication Chairperson and then on the Executive Leadership Team for a few years. I also led efforts as part
of another Board of Directors with the American Marketing Association. They were great experiences that taught me a lot about leading with empathy.

2005: The Leap of Faith
I took a leap of faith and left my corporate job behind, and started my marketing and branding consultancy, which went on to help thousands of clients sell more than $3 Billion dollars of products & services during 17 years of operation.

2006: Fashion Forward
I started a "for purpose, for profit" fashion company with a business partner. While we had a lot of hype around the collection, tons of sales, tens of thousands people on email, and a new movement and subculture, the cash needed to fuel growth was too high. A tough lesson! I truly believe now that if I already had the tools of Mindful Leadership (which I didn't discover until years later), I would have seen a clear solution that saved the business.

2008: Team Work Makes the Dream Work
I asked my husband, Jared, to work with me in my branding and marketing consultancy. He had just sold his business—and we worked together for 12 years until just after the birth of our children. We’re celebrating 20 years together in 2022 and he truly is my soulmate.

2010: Upwardly Mobile
We had yet another creative itch to start another company: this time in the digital scrapbooking industry. We had awesome SEO and people loved our designs. With the rise of mobile apps for scrapbooking and also Instagram, the market changed substantially. Rather than making a large investment in developing a mobile app, we closed the business while we were still "ahead." This experience taught me that although quitters don't win, winners sometimes quit (and that's still winning).

2012: Hear Both Sides

I developed a direct mail campaign for a tech company with over 100 franchisees. The campaign told the compelling story of how a father’s love for his daughter spurred him to create a hearing aid with the most advanced technology available. This empathetic campaign outperformed other controls with an astounding 30:1 ROI and attracted record-breaking numbers of new customers, franchisees and employees for years after. To this day, 10 years later, no one has beat this new control! This is when I started to formulate The Empathy Equation.

2012-2015: Enter Stage Right
I worked with the Board of Directors for a speaker organization as a paid communications advisor, beside Hall of Fame speaking legends like Brian Tracy. I loved my time here and helped guide the staff to grow membership and event attendance at a record rate.

2014-2020: Morning Magic
My husband and started an eCommerce business that combined my love for morning rituals and mindfulness. What I love about matcha is how quickly it changes the brain into the Optimal State of Flow (Alpha brain frequency) and supports increased focus, empowerment and productivity. This is also when I began developing the tenets of Mindful Leadership, which does the same.

2015: The Ripple Effect
My husband and I donated thousands of dollars to build new concrete homes for 16 Haitians who were living in mud huts, as well as help orphans get an education. As part of our donation, we went to Haiti to see where the money was going. I felt an increasing desire (and even responsibility) to make an impact. This also contributed to the development of The Empathy Equation.

2016: Invisible Solutions
I began to deepen my studies into mind/body healing, hypnotherapy, mindfulness and meditation. I became fascinated with the CIA's declassified research on how they taught regular people extrasensory perception (ESP) abilities, which inspired me to develop mine. I began teaching workshops on these subjects and saw how much it helped my students regain their sense of purpose, identity and personal power— as well as help strengthen their professional and personal lives.

2016-17: Two Miracles
After experiencing the challenge of infertility for seven years with my husband Jared, we gave birth to our two most joyful creations. The "Invisible Solutions" played a major role in achieving our dreams.

2017: Mic Check

I gave my first stage presentation to a large group of CEO’s running 7-, 8- and 9-figure businesses. It was a success, evidenced by a swarm of people around me at lunch. Interestingly, right before I got on stage, the tension in the room was palpable. The host couldn’t seem to calm down the attendees after an incident on stage. I witnessed the conflict before going on stage and I told him, “I’ve got this.” After the event was over, the host told me that my speech saved his event. This is when I realized that I was born to speak on stage.

2019: Pursuing Purpose

After writing my first book, The Intuition-Led Business: Speed Up Business Growth by Slowing Down & Tuning In and releasing The Higher Genius Podcast, I stepped out fully onto the scene to share the biggest secret I've discovered for creating the most innovative business plans and a renewed enthusiasm for life and business: Mindful Leadership and The Empathy Equation.

2020-2021: The Big Pivot

While many speakers and trainers were scrambling off stage to find virtual work during the pandemic, I was running toward the stage. I started to transition my private consulting to encompass workshops and keynotes.

I pivoted from helping organizations  create successful marketing campaigns using my secret sauce to teaching  organizations how to make the secret sauce behind the success: The Empathy Equation and Mindful Leadership, so they can unlock the hidden drivers of financial growth, employee performance and customer loyalty.

I’ve spent the last 18 years helping businesses (and myself) uplevel. I’m married to Jared, my best friend, soul mate and business partner. And I’m a mother to two miracle babies (I’ll tell you why they’re miracle babies in a moment). I’ve figured out how to enjoy my family and personal life in beautiful Phoenix, Arizona and still grow a business – to six figures in my first year, to triple that figure in my third year, and it’s now well into the 7 figures.

Career and family is NOT an either/or decision.

I balance both. And I know YOU can balance both too.

My husband and I struggled with infertility for 7 years … and I watched my parents divorce after 30 years of marriage. These difficult events have given me an unmatched appreciation for both my family and the attention personal relationships need to thrive. It’s been an epic journey – and this is my next chapter.

Through those years, my husband and I have had 3 different business partners - one good, one bad, one ugly - and we’ve bought and sold (succeeded and failed at) other ventures, too.
